What Lisa & Brian say, June 2025
We had our wedding at Ballykealey House on June 14th, and it was the most perfect day – even with the rain! The weather didn’t start out in our favour, but Ballykealey looked absolutely magical, and the incredible team made sure everything ran seamlessly. Angela and Alison, the event managers, were absolutely amazing, and Luke, the accommodation manager, went above and beyond to look after us and our guests. Even the bar staff were a great laugh and added to the fun atmosphere.
We stayed up the night before in the lodges and it was a great idea to make the wedding a full weekend. Lisa and her bridesmaids are still talking about how amazing the bridal prep room was. From sewing kits, to double sided tape, to the hollywood mirrors anything you could think you might need it was there. It was also so beautiful for the get ready prep photos. We really loved that Ballykealey is a dog friendly venue. It was amazing that that our dog Shadow could stay over the night before and be there for the big day.
While we originally planned on getting married in the woodlands due to the weather we got married in the barn. This is one of the great things about Ballykealey is the numerous ceremony location options. The barn was simply stunning and created the most intimate setting.
Our drinks reception in the house was wonderful, with both sides of the house being used so that if you wanted to get away from the music and chat you could or simply sit back and relax.
Brian doesn’t drink and the team were constantly appearing with tea or lemonade or sparkling apple juice when he might need it throughout the day which was so thoughtful.
The garden room turned out to be perfect for the games we had originally planned for outside, and with the sweet table and photo backdrop set up, it all came together beautifully. The team even kept an eye on the weather for us, letting us know every time there was a break so we could dash out for photos.
The dinner – all I can say is WOW! This was definitely a massive talking point for all our guests, so fresh, so tasty and great portion size which went down a treat for all the farmers in attendance!
Ballykealey truly thought of everything.
From start to finish, Ballykealey House went above and beyond to give us an unforgettable wedding. In hail, rain, snow or shine its a breathtaking venue, a home away from home and one that you’ll remember fondly long after the day is over. We can’t recommend them highly enough!
