If we could do it all over again, we would choose Ballykealey every single time. Planning a wedding and choosing a venue can be so tricky as there is often so much choice on offer. What sets Ballykealey apart from other venues of a similar spec is the staff. Every staff member you meet from the early planning stages right up to the day itself – every single person is warm, friendly and professional. Angela and her team do such a wonderful job of planning a beautiful wedding specific to you as a couple.
Alison and her team ensure every single element of the day goes seamlessly. The food is incredible. The local sourcing and high-quality were two major selling points for us. Tip – go for Sunday Lunch with your family before the big day to enjoy the food all to yourselves!
The bar staff on the day were absolutely amazing, especially JP and Conor. They could not have done enough for us, and made an extra effort for a close friend’s birthday to be celebrated too. We also recommend Ballykealey so highly for the barn space it offers for your ceremony. We knew early on we wanted a civil ceremony in a place that kept a warm, celebratory feel. The barn offers exactly that – it is bright, spacious, beautifully decorated. It feels like a place where something as important as your wedding would take place. Ambling up from the ceremony afterwards directly into your drinks reception – perfect!
The bar opens before the ceremony too so guests arriving can meet the groom and other guests before heading down for the ceremony. We loved that aspect as it gave the day a relaxed start and inviting atmosphere from the get go. Ballykealey is a well-oiled machine that someone still manages to make your wedding feel personal, special and important – like it’s the only wedding they’ve hosted this year. All we can say is, if booking your own wedding, take yourself to Ballykealey and see for yourself. We would make this decision again and again.
